The Bodypainting Trophy took place on 15th October 2017 as a part of the BEAUTY CONTEST EXPO.

The Beauty Contest EXPO is an international exhibition dedicated to beauty, aesthetics and cosmetics. The Swiss Bodypainting Awards patronized by WBA was organized already the 3rd time. All participants showed their talents in the Open Category under the theme "Science Fiction Movies". It was a wonderful weekend with talanted artists and models and their stunning artworks. 

Jury:

This year 3 extraordinary artists evaluated amazing partisipants' works:

• Matteo Arfanotti (World Champion in Facepainting and Brush/ Sponge Bodypainting 2013, Silber awarded artist 2014 category World Award UV Bodypainting)
  • Leonardo Giacomo Borghese (Bronze awarded artist at the World Bodypainting Festival – World Award Airbrush 2017 as well as Winner of the Category Special Effects Make-up 2016)
  • Benedetta Carugati (Bronze awarded artist at the World Bodypainting Festival – Category World Award Special Effects Bodypainting 2014, 2015 & 2017).

Marta Gejdošová – make-up artist, bodypainter, hairdresser comes from Slovakia. She has been working in beauty business for almost 20 years. She runs her own beauty salon SHARMANT, she is the main make-up artist of the musical Cats at the theatre Nová Scéna Bratislava, she cooperates with various media and TV. She is the author of two books about beauty “Beauty doesnʼt have to be a coincidence”. She also works as a beauty and image lecturer.

She has been practising Bodypainting since 2010 and she is the Slovak BodyArt champion. In 2017 she took the 5th place in Open Category at World Bodypainting Festival in Klagenfurt. In 2016 she has become the president of the Association Bodypainters Slovakia and since then Slovak bodypainting championships are organized by her.
For five years she has organized the biggest bodypainting event in Slovakia BODY ART SHOW. It is an exhibition show of bodypainting art with charitable purpose. She started organizing BODY ART SHOW according to her experience fromWorld Bodypainting Festival. She wanted to bring joy, enthusiasm and beauty of this piece of art to Slovakia and present it to public. She also gives attention to charity. At BODY ART SHOW she presents her bodypainting calendar which selling gains are donated to charity fund Pink Ribbon – breast cancer prevention. She also gave help to childrenʼs oncology by creating calendar with oncological child patients.
Currently she is preparing the 6th year of BODY ART SHOW that will be held on 16th November 2019 in Bratislava.

The Nevskie Berega in St. Petersburg, Russia is one of the most important competitions for professionals of the beauty industry. More than two thousand five hundred people from all over the world attended the competition. The participants made a stunning work under the themes
“The Comic Book World” and “The World through Children's Eyes”.

Our WBA membesr Filippo ioco had its Grand Opening Friday February 23, 2018 with a successful turnout of 180-200 guests.

Guests were treated to Spanish wine, local horderves and the celebrated Spanish Champaign CAVA. The opening showcased Filippo’s bodypainting prints, fine art & published art including a live bodypainted model, Anna Spagna. The studio & gallery located in the heart of the creative hub Poblenou, Barcelona is the first Bodypainting Gallery in Spain & the European Union. Filippo’s goal is to establish the studio & gallery as a creative hotspot bring together fine artists and bodypainters to showcase their works and talents. The studio & gallery is also available for photography, tv/film, corporate meetings and workshop rentals.

20 YEARS WORLD BODYPAINTING FESTIVAL AND A SUCCESSFUL PREMIERE IN KLAGENFURT

The Festival has been part of the local festival scene for 20 years now and is the biggest art and music festival of Carinthia, the southernmost federal state of Austria. 2017 was the first year in our new location – Klagenfurt am Wörthersee. The regional capital with its historical city center, theatre, and galleries is just the perfect location for the festival and its visitors, to enjoy an exciting festival week with a colourful potpourri of captivating bodypainting art and the delicious delicacies of the Street Food Market beside multiple musical top acts.

The heart of the festival was the world championship on the 3 main days (Friday 28th – Sunday 30th) with almost 300 competing artists teams from over 54 nations in various categories, trying to impress the festival visitors and the jury with their unique and outstandingly creative designs. On Sunday - shortly before midnight - the new world champions of the WBF 2017 were announced and celebrated in a spectacular awarding ceremony.

The category Brush & Sponge had very strong artworks this year. The world champion title was awarded to Sanatan Dinda (India) - winning the much desired title the second year in a row. Vice world champion champion got Marzia Bedeschi (Italy) followed by Cheryl Ann Lipstreu (USA).
In the category Airbrush, the title did go to Benoit Bottala, bringing the world champion title to Guadeloupe for the first time. Alex Hansen (Brasil) and Leonardo Giacomo Borgese (Italy) completed the winner's picture.
In the category of Special Effects the Austrian artist Ludwig Decarli was awarded World Champion of 2017, he already won the vice world champion title in the same category a few years back. Beside him, Olga Popova (Russia) and Benedetta Carugatti (Italy) were happy about their prices.
Besides the 3 main categories, 10 other titles were awarded.
